📐 What Is an F-Theta Lens?

An F-Theta lens (also known as a scan lens) is a specialized objective lens used with galvanometer scanning systems to direct laser beams across flat fields. Unlike traditional focusing lenses, an F-Theta lens ensures that the scanning field remains linear, so the spot displacement on the work surface is directly proportional to the scan angle.
